Kelley Penner and other members of Peabody Main Street washed the Baker building windows, cleared out bird nests, and swept the sidewalk Thursday evening.


Residents and staff at Peabody Care Center launched balloons to celebrate the start of National Nursing Home Week. The week is full of fun-filled activities including a community BBQ on Wednesday evening followed by musical entertainment from Aaron Waddell. The event is free to the public and starts at 5 p.m.


Clayton Philpott makes the handoff to Patrick Egan in the 4x100 relay Thursday at the Wheat State League Track Meet in Goessel. Even though the relay team was disqualified for an earlier handoff problem, the Peabody-Burns boys scored more points than ever before at the league meet.


Judy Mellott, Senior Citizens of Marion County Board Chairman awards Peabody-Burns High School senior Seth Topham with the SCMC 2013 scholarship for $400. Topham will be attending Southwestern College in Winfield with a plan to major in biology and chemistry.
