Young children have three new computers for early learning in the children’s department at Marion City Library.

Two of the new learning stations are gifts from Carla and Larry Steckline. The Stecklines purchased the computers in memory of Carla’s parents, Carl and Juanita Stovall.

The third learning station was purchased with memorial donations in memory of Howard O’Connor and Gerald Higgins.

The learning stations are geared toward children ages 2 to 8.

Games on the computers teach children reading, words and phonics, math problem-solving skills, science and nature, social studies and geography, computer skills, research, and music and art.

Library director Janet Marler said she hoped installation of the learning stations would help inspire a love of learning that would enhance children’s school performance.

“We are thankful to the Stecklines, the O’Connor family, and the Higgins family’s generous donations to allow the Marion City Library to continue our literacy efforts in the community,” Marler said.
