Wrestler places
in top 5

Both county wrestling teams traveled to Eureka on Saturday, with a Marion wrestler placing fifth.
Marion
Brian Nguyen led the Warriors with a fifth-place finish, ending the day 2-2.
The Warriors had a tough weekend, according to coach Tyler McMichael.
“I would say one of our biggest issues is that we do not go out aggressive in our matches,” McMichael said. “We have a couple of weeks to get that figured out and prepare for our postseason run.”
Nguyen will be the only wrestler to head to Hoisington this Friday, while the rest of the team will be home Saturday for a junior varsity event at the Sports and Aquatic Center.
Hillsboro
The Trojans had three girls and five boys travel to Eureka on Saturday.
With a tough slate of matches, none was able to place.
“Unfortunately, we had some of our more experienced wrestlers out of the line up due to illness and injuries,” coach Scott O’Hare said.
The group that did travel, O’Hare said, “got some quality matchups that provide a good gauge of where they are and what they need to continue to improve on.”
Hillsboro’s next wrestling event will be Thursday at Council Grove. On Friday, the team will travel to Hoisington.
