Wayne Albert Johnston, 75, died March 2 at his daughter’s home in Hillsboro.

He was born Aug. 10, 1941 to Harold and Mildred Johnston in Marion.

In high school, he played sports and graduated with the class of 1960.

He worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline and retired in the late 1990s to Marion County Park and Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Les Johnston, Linda Hamm, Vera Osgood, Marie Lands, and two infant brothers.

He is survived by three daughters, Karen Ornelas and Sharon Levey, both of Wichita, and Mischelle Dush of Hillsboro; four siblings, Dale Johnston of Marion, Wanda Waring of Arkansas, Shirley Cardin of Texas, and Barbara Craney of Lincolnville; and eight grandchildren.

The funeral service was March 7 at Valley United Methodist Church in Marion, with burial at Marion Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with Valley Hope in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.
