Warriors eliminated in 1st round at state baseball tournament

Marion lost 9-0 to Thomas More Prep-Marian in the first round Thursday of state baseball tournament.

After winning regionals with a combined score of 40-1 across three games, the Warriors were unable to score a run at Great Bend. Marion had three hits in seven innings, two from senior Jack Lanning and one from senior Cole Smith.

Senior Cooper Bailey was the starting pitcher with senior Trevor Schafers taking the mound in the last few innings.

For the season, Lanning and Schafers were the only two players to hit a home run this season. Lanning stole 28 bases this season with Jameson Looper stealing 17, and Schafers stealing 15.

Gavin Wasmuth finished the season with 30 hits and 38 runs batted in. Lanning lead the team in runs scored with 54, Schafers with 35, and Looper with 34.
