To the editor:

On Nov. 11, I was fortunate enough to attend the Veterans Day program presented by Centre USD 397.

When I entered the gym at the school, community members filled the chairs on the gym floor and the bleachers were full as well. The presentation of the colors by the Boy Scouts was wonderful. The students, from preschool on up, sang with pride and held their American flags high.

The veterans introduced themselves one by one and the gym filled with applause as they did so. The participation by the audience was awesome, and the interaction between veterans and students as they sang together towards the end of the program truly warmed the heart.

Centre has provided such a program for as long as my children have attended Centre, and in those 14 years, this was truly one of the best. To the administration, faculty, and students, thank you for presenting such a heartfelt program. I am proud to be the parent of a Centre student and patron of the Centre community.
