Tabor homecoming Oct. 21 and 22

Tabor College’s homecoming weekend will be Oct. 21 and 22, and will include art and music, sports, and reunions.

Homecoming weekend kicks off with the theater department’s production “The Comedy of Errors,” a William Shakespeare satirical narrative that features comic instances of mistaken identity.

Performances will be 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 through 22, and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 23.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students, and are available online at tabor.edu/hctheater or by calling (620) 947-3121 ext. 1033.

Registration for a golf classic at Reflection Ridge Golf Club, Wichita, will begin at 8 a.m. Oct. 21, with play starting at 9 a.m.

An art and design show will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 21 and 22 on the second floor of Tabor Library, with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 21.

Assistant history professor Jessica Klanderud will present the history of Tabor College football from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Historic Mennonite Brethren Church on the Hillsboro campus.

50-year class reunion photos will be taken at 6 p.m. at Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview, Wichita, with a festival dinner following. 1964 graduate David Schroeder will receive the alumni merit award, and 2008 graduate Kalie George will receive the alumni medallion award.

On Friday night, those who wear a Tabor t-shirt to Drubers Donut Shop in Newton will receive a free donut.

Those who attended Tabor before 1966 may attend a “golden brunch” at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 22 in the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center lobby.

A kids’ zone will be set up from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 22 north of Joel H. Wiens stadium, with children’s inflatables set up from 12 to 4 p.m. at the stadium.

“Displays of Yesterdays” will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Center for Mennonite Brethren Studies wing of the library.

Music fest will be held at 10 a.m. in the Wohlgemuth rehearsal hall, and 2012 graduate Corissa (Bartel) Mangus will present “Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, Oh My Life as a Zookeeper” at 10 a.m. in the science building.

A Dutch lunch will be served 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Tabor gymnasium, with a 50 year reunion catered lunch in the library conference room.

Tabor College will face Friends University in a homecoming football game at 2 p.m.

Women’s soccer will play Bethel College at 6 p.m. and men’s team will play Bethel at 8 p.m.
