Marion native Mike Steinel and his jazz band, the Mike Steinel Quintet, will take to the McPherson Opera House stage Friday for a concert capping the two-day McPherson College Jazz Festival.

Internationally recognized as a jazz performer and educator, Steinel has taught jazz studies at University of North Texas for 28 years.

Steinel and quintet members will spend two days as clinicians with about 400 middle and high school aspiring jazz musicians attending the festival.

Steinel’s concert begins at 7:30 p.m., with McPherson College Jazz Band and Smoky Valley High School Jazz Band providing warm-up selections. Tickets may be obtained at the door, or by calling (620)241-1952.
