Shotgun-toting teen arrested on multiple drug charges

An out-of-county teen was arrested on suspicion of multiple drug charges including intent to distribute, and criminal use of weapons, at 10:41 p.m. April 6 near US-56 and Eisenhower St.

Marion Police officer Lee Vogel stopped Jaron Palmer, 19, Wichita, for driving a vehicle with no tag light. Vogel’s police report indicated that Palmer was suspected of being under the influence of drugs.

Vogel called in canine officer Legion who indicated on an odor he was trained to detect.

A search of the vehicle rendered 62 grams of marijuana packaged in 28 individual plastic baggies, .2 grams of methamphetamines, five articles of drug paraphernalia, and a shotgun that had the barrel sawed off to a length which police said made it illegal to possess.

Palmer faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamines, criminal use of possession of drug paraphernalia, defective tag lamp, and no proof of liability insurance.
