Sentencing due Dec. 5 in indecent liberties

Staff writer

A Burns man charged with multiple counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and criminal sodomy will be sentenced Dec. 5 on two of the charges.

Daniel Scott Huls II, 33, signed a written agreement Oct. 17 to plead no contest to two charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

The charges stem from incidents between July 1 and Sept. 30, 2015, and involve the same victim, then 14. Huls was originally charged May 5 with four counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and two counts of criminal sodomy, with the victim the same in all counts.

As part of the plea agreement, two additional counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and two counts of criminal sodomy will be dismissed with prejudice.

The prosecution will ask Huls to be sentenced to 51 months in prison and that his sentences run concurrently.

The agreement also specifies that Huls will register as a sex offender and reimburse costs of counseling for the victim.
