Richard Stroup

Former locomotive engineer Richard L. “Rich” Stroup, 68, died Oct. 21 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. 

A memorial service was Sunday at Florence United Methodist Church. A second memorial service was held on Tuesday in Frankfort, Indiana.   

He was born Feb. 3, 1947, at Frankfort, the son of Ceryl Kenneth and Evelyn Stroup. 

He spent 32 years with the Norfolk Southern Railroad, and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. 

Survivors include  wives, Suzan Lynn Stroup of Florence and Marcia Stroup of Lafayette, Indiana; sons Jason Stroup of Frankfort, Indiana; Brandon Stroup of Lafayette, Indiana; Jessie Torrey of Angola, Indiana; and Tristan Thomas of Anderson, Indiana; daughters  Heather Jackson of Erwin, Tennessee; Mari Beilfuss of Wichita; and Cody Lacey of Butler, Indiana; siblings  Sharon Eades of Frankfort, Indiana; Phil Crum of Mission, Texas; Nancy Kehrer of Frankfort, Indiana; and Shirley Abbott of Zionsville, Indiana; and 24 grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established for the American Heart Association, in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St, Marion KS 66861.
