ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Jan. 27 — A 29-year-old Hillsboro man was arrested after he allegedly threatened his 34-year-old common-law wife at her place of employment. Police continued to work with the Department of Children and Families on an investigation.

Jan. 28 — Police dealt with a parking complaint in the 200 block of N. Main St. and completed checking streetlights.

Jan. 29 — A driver was warned for speeding in the 200 block of N. Adams St. Police installed a child car seat for a resident and stood by during a civil matter.

Thursday — A driver at 190th and Jade Rds. was found to be waiting for a tow truck. Police talked to a resident about a dog in the 300 block of N. Madison St. They also answered a resident’s questions about driver’s licenses.

Friday — A renter reported that her landlord, ostensibly there to maintain a heater, refused to leave. A driver was warned for going the wrong way on a street near Hillsboro Elementary School. Police stood by during a civil matter.

Saturday — An item reported lost by a resident turned up at the resident’s home. A false alarm at Dollar General was investigated. Police checked on an apparently abandoned vehicle.

Sunday — Police contacted a family member to relay a message from Newton police.

MARION

Jan. 27 — An injury accident in the 600 block of N. Cedar St. was investigated. A dog loose in the 200 block of W. Santa Fe St. was returned to its owner. No problems were found in checking on a resident of the 300 block of Locust St. Drivers were warned for speeding on US-77 near K-256 and on US-56 near Cedar St.

Jan. 28 — An allegedly abused children was taken into protective custody in the 400 block of N. Lincoln St.; no offense report was released. A commercial alarm in the 1100 block of E. Main St. was found to have been accidentally activated. Police helped with a middle school lockdown drill. A driver was warned for speeding on US-56 near Timber Rd.

Jan. 29 — A dog loose near Main and Cedar Sts. was returned to its owner. Police discussed a civil matter in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. and investigated a driving complaint in the 200 block of Forest St. They returned to a residence in the 300 block of Locust St. for a follow-up.

Thursday — A report of possible vandalism was investigated in the 600 block of S. Roosevelt St.; no offense report was released. Police spoke to someone in the 1000 block of E. Main St. about an ongoing case and investigated a report of possible harassment; no offense report was released. Police failed to catch a dog loose in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. A dead animal was removed from the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. Officers again returned to the 300 block of Locust St. to check on a resident and followed up on the driving complaint in the 200 block of Forest St.

Friday — A driver was ticketed for having a defective tag light and no insurance at Main and Elm Sts. A second driver was warned for speeding on US-56 near Cedar St. Complaints about driving and trespassing in the 400 block of N. Lincoln St. were investigated; no offense reports were released. For the third time in four days, officers followed up with a resident of the 300 block of Locust St. Police helped with a Department of Children and Families investigation in the 100 block of Washington St.

Saturday — A resident complained of harassment in the 200 block of Forest St.; no offense report was released. No problems were found in investigating another complaint of trespassing in the 400 block of N. Lincoln St. Those involved in a disturbance in Central Park left after police arrived; an officer determined that no crime had been committed. A bank card was returned to its user.

Sunday — A driver was warned for speeding near Main and Vine Sts., and two drivers were warned for speeding on US-56 near Cedar St.
