ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

April 29 — Eighteen pounds of prescription medication turned in as part of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s national Prescription Drug Take Back event were taken to a DEA lab. No problems were found in responding to a report of a suspicious person downtown or in checking on the welfare of a resident of the 100 block of S. Wilson St. Lost property was returned to a resident. A water leak was monitored for the city water department.

April 30 — Police helped locate the owner of a vehicle left on private property, stood by during a civil matter at Barkman Honey, and met with kids riding bikes in traffic in 200 block of W. D St.

May 1 — Drivers were warned for making a J-turn in the 100 block of N. Main St. and for speeding in the 1000 block of S. Ash St. Police helped homeless resident find housing and met with a resident involving a trespassing issue at a rental property.

Thursday — A report of a dog bite was investigated. Missing property was returned to its owner. A fire alarm accidentally was activated at Hillsboro Community Hospital. A resident was helped with a property issue. Police went to a Marion residence to speak to a couple involved in a dispute with a Hillsboro couple.

Friday — No report was released by either city after Hillsboro police worked with Marion police to investigate a dog bite that happened in Marion but apparently was reported at Hillsboro Community Hospital. A driver was warned for not wearing a seatbelt. No problems were found in checking on the welfare of a resident of the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. Police helped a resident search for a dog that got loose.

Saturday — A missing dog was found and returned to its owner. Violation stickers were applied to several illegally parked vehicles. Police tried to locate a Tabor College student’s lost keys. A driver was warned about equipment violations at US-56 and Orchard Dr.

Sunday — A traffic stop after a report of reckless driving on Indigo Rd. resulted in an arrest on drug and driving charges; see Offenses Reported. Police stood by during a property exchange.

MARION

April 29 — No problems were found in checking on the welfare of a resident of the 300 block of E. Main St.

April 29 — No problems were found in checking on the welfare of a resident of the 300 block of S. Freeborn St.

May 1 — A trespassing complaint in the 300 block of Locust St. was determined to be a civil issue. A dog loose in the 1300 block of E. Main St. was taken to Animal Health Center. A driver at US-56 and Cedar St. was warned about an equipment violation.

Thursday — An unwanted visitor to a residence in the 700 block of N. Cedar St. was initially not found. A complaint of improper Internet communication between a juvenile and an adult was investigated in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. where police also assisted Hillsboro officers in investigating a property dispute. Assistant Hillsboro Police Chief Randy Brazil said the investigation concerned a dispute between Hillsboro residents who were moving and Marion residents who helped them. Police responded to a disagreement between neighbors over who was parking on whose property in the 300 block of Locust St. What was reported as a possible explosion was determined to be an earthquake. Drivers were warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St. and for speeding and an equipment violation near US-56 and Timber Rd.

Friday — A Wichita man was arrested on suspicion of assault, criminal damage to property, and criminal trespassing after a police foot pursuit; see Offense Reports. A driver was warned for having an expired license plate in the 100 block of S. Thorp St. The driver of a derby car in the 100 block of S. Roosevelt St. was told that derby cars may not be driven on streets.

PEABODY

April 30 — Police participated in a weather watch and stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Poplar St. to check on the welfare of its occupant.

May 1 — An officer helped ambulance attendants lift a patient in the 600 block of Elm St. and responded to a fire in a yard in the 800 block of Olive St.

Friday — A missing adult was located. A driver was warned for an equipment violation in the 200 block of Plum St.

Saturday — Police helped locate a missing dog and were contacted about a civil property issue.
