ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

July 18 — Police helped a resident deal with a skunk and an elderly resident who had fallen.

July 19 — Police checked on the welfare of a neighbor’s dog and of a hitchhiker at Casey’s General Store.

July 20 — An unwanted house guest left after police checked on a verbal disturbance in 200 block of N. Main St. Police stood by during removal of property from a residence.

Thursday — Drivers were warned for speeding in the 300 block of E. D St. and at US-56 and Jade Rd. Police met with family members about a civil issue and three juveniles about curfew violation.

Friday — A vehicle that reportedly struck a citizen was not located. What was reported as a suspicious person in Memorial Park turned out to be a bicyclist. A traffic complaint in the 200 block of N. Washington St. was investigated. Police checked on a resident’s welfare and met with separate residents about a civil matter and an order of protection from abuse.

Saturday — A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery during an argument in 300 block of N. Ash St. A 19-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drug and alcohol charges after a traffic stop for speeding and having a defective muffler in the 400 block of S. Cedar St. Drivers were warned for equipment violations in the 400 block of N. Ash St. and at Memorial Park.

Sunday — A false alarm at Hillsboro Hometown Pharmacy was investigated. A dog owner was cited for allowing a dog to run free in the 200 block of S. Adams St.

MARION

July 18 — At a property owner’s request, a person was warned not to trespass on property in the 700 block of N. Cedar St. What was reported as a theft was determined to be a civil matter. Two drivers were warned for speeding. Police found no problems in investigating a report of an out-of-control person in the 100 block of S. 4th St. and a report of suspicious activity near Grant and Cleveland Sts.

July 19 — Three drivers were warned for speeding. No problems were found when a building in the 1100 block of E. Main St. was searched after a business alarm sounded.

July 20 — Another false alarm was investigated in the 1100 block of E. Main St. Three drivers were warned for equipment violations.

Thursday — A customer who drove off without paying for fuel was located, returned, and paid. A possible scam was reported. A driver was cited for going 47 mph in a 30-mph zone on Cedar St. at US-56.

Friday — A driver was warned for speeding.

Saturday — Drivers were warned in separate traffic stops for equipment violations and speeding.

Sunday — A motorist was warned about illegal parking in the 100 block of E. Main St. Two other drivers were warned — one for speeding, one for an equipment violation. Another false alarm in the 1100 block of E. Main St. was investigated.

PEABODY

July 18 — Routine activities.

July 19 — Police helped return a resident to Westview Manor, opened three new cases of health and safety violations for residences without water service, and continued to investigate inoperable vehicles and check for unmowed yards.

July 20 — Police presented a program on identity theft, scams, and counterfeit money at Peabody Senior Center.

Thursday — Two drivers were warned in traffic stops, and placards were placed on three homes without water service.

Friday — A driver was cited for speeding on US-50.

Saturday — Multiple traffic stops along US-50 resulted in both warnings and citations.

Sunday — Routine activities.
