Activity reports
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.
Hillsboro
May 26 – Suspicious activity at Western Heights Circle ended up being teenagers fishing at a pond. A burglary report proved unfounded. A request to remove a person’s property from an old residence because it was deemed a civil issue.
May 27 – Police helped find a parking place for a camper.
Thursday – A report of a suspicious person in the 100 block of N. Main St. proved to be someone leaving a family member’s home. A motorist was warned for an illegal U-turn in the 300 block of S. Ash St., and a recovered bicycle was returned to its owner’s residence. Suspicious activity reported in the 200 block of S. Madison St. was found to be a civil issue.
Friday – Tampering with electrical services was reported at Birchwood Apartments in the 900 block of E. D St. A recovered bicycle was returned to its owner. A loud noise reported in the 300 block of E. A St. was a transformer that malfunctioned. Children were warned for playing on storage equipment owned by Cooperative Grain and Supply. Two motorists were warned for equipment violations on US-56.
Saturday – A dog allegedly bit a person, who then required hospital treatment. Welfare of a person in the 500 block of S. Lincoln St. was provided. A disturbance in the 300 block of N. Ash St. proved to be only a verbal argument.
Sunday – A motorist was warned for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St. A person was reported swimming in ponds at Memorial Park, but no one was found. Two children who broke into a house in the 200 block of S. Madison St. to play with toys there were remanded by their parents. Officers met with a homeowner about suspicious activity in the 200 block of S. Main St.
Marion
May 25 – Children were warned for playing in a drainage ditch in the 100 block of Locust St. A report of a suicidal person in the 700 block of N. Cedar St. proved unfounded.
May 26 – A motorist was warned for an illegal J-turn in the 400 block of E. Main St. Children reported to be walking alone in the 600 block of E. Main St. children were not found. A motorist was cited for having no proof of insurance near Main and Lincoln Sts., and two other motorists were warned for traffic violations.
May 27 – A motorist was warned for no brake lights. A vehicle hit a dog in the 600 block of N. Cedar St. The dog died, and its owner was informed.
Thursday – A disturbance in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St. was verbal only.
Friday – A person was removed from private property after a disturbance in the 1000 block of Tanglewood St.
A vehicle hit a flagpole at Marion Cemetery, but no damage was found. Five motorists were warned for various traffic violations, and a motorist was cited for speeding and driving with a suspended license.
Saturday – A loose dog was picked up in the 400 block of S. 4th St. Officers assisted with pushing a trailer back into its owner’s driveway from the middle of the road and provided an escort for a child’s birthday party parade. A motorist was warned for illegal lighting near Main and 3rd Sts., and a motorist was cited for driving with a suspended license near 4th and Williams Sts.
Sunday – Officers responded to a disturbance in the 700 block of N. Cedar St. but the person involved had left.
