A 13-year-old Cottonwood Valley League Babe Ruth all-star team featuring eight Peabody players met stiff competition Friday and Saturday at a state tournament in Frontenac, failing to advance to the championship round.

The team played two games Friday, dropping the first to Garden City, 17-7, and the second to Pittsburg, 14-0.

The CVL squad put up a fight Saturday against host Frontenac, but came up short, losing 4-2 to be eliminated.
