Peabody Church
to celebrate 150th

Peabody Christian Church will celebrate its 150th anniversary Sunday.

The Rev. W.S. Allen and James Cochran founded the church in 1872. After meeting in several locations, the church built its home at Division and Sycamore Sts. The church remains at that location.

In 1908, the church built additions on the south and west sides of the main building.

The church’s longest-serving minister was the Rev. Jim Pohlman, who began leading the congregation in 1986. He retired in 2021.

The congregation will celebrate its anniversary during its 10:30 a.m. service Sunday. Visitors will be welcome.
