Peabody-Burns High School goes Hollywood

The experience of a Hollywood award show will be as close as ever this weekend when Peabody-Burns High School Voices choir performs a dinner theater experience at 6 p.m. Saturday in Brown Gymnasium.

The theme, “Cinema Soundtracks,” will feature various songs made famous by or featured in movie soundtracks.

“It’s a lot of fun,” director Laura Leitnaker said. “We have all different kinds of movies from all different periods: ‘Chariots of Fire,’ ‘Grease,’ ‘Frozen,’ ‘Walk the ‘Line.’ Just all sorts of different movies.”

The group will sing around 20 songs, and started preparing for the event at the beginning of the semester.

“We will do about 10 full ensemble songs, and then everyone is involved in a small ensemble or singing a solo,” Leitnaker said. “You’ll get to see all of the kids in several different ways.”

Along with entertainment comes a spaghetti meal, which will be made by parent volunteers.

The students are not only singing for the performance, but also are helping prepare the gymnasium.

“The kids are doing all of the decorations,” Leitnaker said. “They’re really excited to do a Hollywood award show theme.”

Leitnaker said the audience can expect to have a great time.Tickets are available by contacting Leitnaker or a Voices member. General admission seating tickets are $12, while reserved seating is $15.
