Peabody-Burns falls to Berean

Staff writer

The Peabody-Burns Warriors traveled to Berean Academy on Friday to play the last games of 2015, and both teams came home with losses.

The Lady Warriors couldn’t muster any offense in a 48-12 loss.

“There were many moments that it would have been easy to throw in the towel when we were down,” head coach Scott Bauer said, “but they didn’t give up and fought to the very end. It was a complete team effort.”

Top scorers for the Lady Warriors were Katy Benson with 5 points and Anna Lubbers with 3.

The boys’ team faced off against Berean, and lost 58-21.

The boys fell behind early, with Clayton Philpott being the only player to score for the Warriors in the first quarter. Down by 19 at the end of the period, they were down 29 at halftime, and Berean breezed to a 58-21 win.

“Even though it’s been tough, we have still been fighting through and sticking together,” boys’ head coach Caleb Good said. “We are seeing improvement with our team defense and rebounding.”

Derik Newman led the Warriors with 5 points, and Austin Reynolds and Jayton Scott had 4 points each.
