Partridge finishes first in high jump at Hillsboro meet

Peabody-Burns track and field team traveled to Hillsboro Monday to compete in their invitational meet that was rescheduled after being rained out Friday.

Cody Partridge placed first in high jump with a jump of 6 feet, and in long jump with a jump of 21 feet, 3 inches. Partridge also placed fifth in 100 meter dash with a time of 11.82 seconds.

Zeke Castleman placed sixth in the 100 with a time of 12.02 seconds, and Elena Niccone placed fifth in high jump with a jump of 4 feet, 2 inches.

Austin Reynolds placed fourth in both the triple jump, with a jump of 37 feet, 7.5 inches, and in 110 meter hurdles, with a time of 16.93 seconds.

Andrew Wedel placed fourth in shot put, with a throw of 46 feet, 2.25 inches.

Track coach Kim Topham said that she was proud of how the team did at one of the bigger meets of the year.

“It was one of our tougher meets because of the larger schools we compete against,” Topham said, “so if you can come home with any places from that meet, I think you’ve done really well.”

Topham said the team is preparing for their Thursday meet in Herington.

“The kids love the track there,” Topham said. “They like the facilities really well, and they’ve always performed well there.”
