IN MEMORIAM:   Orlin Chizek

Orlin Kenneth Chizek, 79, passed away Dec. 16, 2015, at North Kansas City Hospital in Missouri, after suffering from declining health the past few years.

The youngest of five children, he was born Feb. 23, 1936, to Edward and Martha (Hajek) Chizek on the family farm near Ramona, Kansas, in Marion County. Orlin graduated from Ramona High School with the class of 1954, and then from San Francisco State University.

He served in the U.S. Army from July 25, 1961 to July 24, 1963. He worked as a customer service representative for Trans World Airlines for 35 years.

He enjoyed visiting with family, antiquing, gardening, and traveling the world. He had been a resident of Kansas City since 1972.

He is survived by a brother, Gaylord Chizek and wife, Marcie, of San Luis Obispo, California; sisters, Bonnie Miller and husband, Bill, of Las Animas, Colorado, and Donna De Savia and husband, Phil, of Canoga Park, California; 20 nieces and nephews; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Uncle Orlin will be missed!

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Leland Chizek.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 14, 2016, at Pilsen Cemetery in Pilsen, Kansas, with the Reverend Darrin May presiding.
