HILLSBORO
Possession and distribution of fentanyl and alprazolam and possession of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine
Two people were arrested after drugs were discovered while three warrants for failing to appear in court were served at 3:06 p.m. Saturday.
After taking Robin J. Hays, 45, of Florence into custody on the warrants, officer John Huebert reported discovering an illicit substance and paraphernalia in her possession.
Police will ask the county attorney to charge her with possession and distribution of fentanyl and alprazolam and possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Sebastian Carranza, 22, Florence, was with Hays at the time and, according to Huebert’s report, attempted to run, tossing away a metal stem pipe and a small bag with a homemade smoking device that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Police will recommend charges of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and interference with law enforcement by attempting to conceal or destroy evidence.
According to Huebert’s report, a total of three smoking pipes, five doses of the powerful opioid fentanyl, five doses of the psychotropic alprazolam, and a trace amount of methamphetamine were discovered.
Carranza, whose address is listed as Hillsboro on jail records, was taken to Marion County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $27,000 in bonds.
Hays was being held there as well, in her case in lieu of $75,000 in bonds.
Suspected charges on jail records differ from those Hillsboro police said they would seek.
