These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Methamphetamine, marijuana, and paraphernalia possession

Two pipes with residue, 1.2 grams (enough for 12 doses) of suspected crystal methamphetamine, and 22.7 grams (enough for 70 joints) of suspected marijuana were seized in a traffic stop after a motorist allegedly failing to signal a lane change at 3:41 a.m. July 5 on US-50 west of Nighthawk Rd.

As previously reported, two women from Albuquerque, New Mexico — Brandy M. Laydon, 37, and Amber L. Barela, 39 — were jailed in lieu of $5,000 surety bonds on suspicion of possessing stimulants, hallucinogens, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Meth and paraphernalia possession

A trace amount of suspected crystal meth and a plastic tube with residue were seized after Ardell P. Jones, 48, Hillsboro, was stopped on suspicion of speeding at 12:44 a.m. July 7 at Indigo Rd. and Willow Glenn Lane in Hillsboro.

As was reported last week, he was jailed on suspicion of possessing meth and drug paraphernalia but was released two hours later on unspecified bond.

Aggravated assault

Jared Smith of Marion reported that he was threatened with a handgun between 5:30 and 7 p.m. July 7 near the office at Marion County Park and Lake.

As was reported last week, Stevan E. Schafers, 21, Marion, alleged exposed himself to 15-year-old jet ski operator after the jet ski splashed him with water while he was standing at a dock on the east side of the lake.

When the boy’s father confronted Schafers, Schafers allegedly went to his car, obtained what appeared to be a gun, and pointed it at him.

Schafers was jailed on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and released 18 hours later after posting a $15,000 surety bond.

He was formally charged with aggravated assault Friday.

Theft

A blue 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 valued at $7,500 was stolen the morning of July 8 from a farm field at 210th and Eagle Rds., three miles west of owner Clyde L. Jost’s residence.

The pickup was found by Harvey County deputies four days later near the intersection of NW 12th St. and Grace Hill Rd.

Multiple drug charges; interference with law enforcement

A grinder, a pill bottle, a glass jar containing 1.05 grams (two or three joint’s worth) of marijuana, and a glass vial continuing an undetermined liquid were seized in a traffic stop at 9:35 p.m. July 10 on US-50 west of Jade Rd.

As was reported last week, Michelle L. Stevens, 35, Peabody, was arrested on suspicion of distribution of a depressant and possession of drug paraphernalia, marijuana, an unknown controlled substance, and an unlawful prescription drug. She was released 15 hours later after posting a $5,000 surety bond.

Bernadette M. Paris, 46, Moundridge, was arrested on suspicion of possession of opiates, drug paraphernalia, unlawful prescription drugs, and a hallucinogenic drug. She was released two days later after posting of $5,000 surety bond.

David L. Bean, 51, Newton, was arrested on suspicion of distribution of a depressant; possession of drug paraphernalia, stimulants, and an unlawful prescription drug; and having no drug tax stamp for marijuana. He was released 15 hours later after posting a $10,000 surety bond.

Jackie W. McHolland, 50, Moundridge, was arrested on suspicion of possession of opiates, stimulants, drug paraphernalia, and an unlawful prescription drug; failure to display evidence of liability insurance; and interference with law enforcement by concealing, altering, or destroying evidence. He was released two days later after posting a $7,500 surety bond.

HILLSBORO

Meth and paraphernalia possession; invalid or expired license plate

A trace amount (0.001 of a gram) of methamphetamine and six items described as drug paraphernalia were seized after a motorist was stopped at 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of W. D St. for operating 2005 Buick LaCrosse with a license plate that expired in October.

According to monitored radio transmissions, a sheriff’s department drug-sniffing dog was brought in and detected the scent of illicit drugs. The vehicle then was searched.

Driver Jennifer L. Siegenthaler, 41, Wichita, was booked into county jail on suspicion of possessing stimulants and drug paraphernalia and driving a vehcile without current registration. She was released eight hours later after posting $11,150 in surety bonds.

Passenger Eric C. Pettit, 39, Galva, was jailed by sheriff’s deputies on a warrant for failing to appear in court. He was released 12 hours later after posting a $5,000 surety bond.
