Michael Wiebe

A memorial service for Michael Christopher Rainey Wiebe, 20, Newton, who died May 7 in Florence, will be 4 p.m. July 15 at Dyck Arboretum of the Plains, Hesston.

Born July 24, 2002, in Wichita to Sara Hussein Awad and Sam Rainey, he was taken home by foster parent Bev Wiebe of Florence, who adopted him in 2003.

He was baptized at Good News Christian Fellowship, Marion, and in 2021 graduated from Hesston High School.

Cindy Combs cared for him before and after Bev Wiebe’s death on Sept. 14, 2020.

Also preceding him in death were grandparents Art and Ella Wiebe and cousin Lisa, who lived for many years as part of his family.

Survivors include aunt Janice Wiebe Ollenburger; uncles Carl, Dale, Glenn, and Virgil Wiebe; birth father Sam Rainey; and Rainey family siblings Casey Donald and Armonda, Samuel, Samantha, and Jervaughn Rainey.

A memorial has been established with Good News Christian Fellowship.
