Men enter home, duct-tape woman

Staff writer

A 19-year-old Goessel woman was duct-taped to a wooden rail in the bathroom of her home late Sunday morning by two intruders apparently looking to rob the home.

Sheriff Rob Craft said the incident was discovered when the woman’s parents returned from church and found her taped up in the bathroom.

The woman told deputies two men wearing ski masks taped her up, then one armed with a handgun guarded her as the other searched the house, Craft said.

The woman could not give any description of the intruders other than they wore ski masks, Craft said, and she neither saw nor heard a vehicle.

Craft said the woman was not injured and nothing appears to have been taken from the home.

“The nearest we can tell, they were there 15-30 minutes,” Craft said of the perpetrators.

Dispatchers on Sunday said the men had entered the rear of the home. Craft said there were no signs of forced entry.

Although the incident is the only recent one of its kind in Marion county, there have been home entries in nearby counties, Craft said.

“Everybody ought to be concerned,” Craft said.

Besides the sheriff’s office, Peabody and Hillsboro police departments responded to the scene. The incident remains under investigation, Craft said.
