Memorial Day service in Peabody on Monday

The traditional Memorial Day service will take place at the crest of the hill in Prairie Lawn Cemetery at 10 a.m. May 30.

Post 95 American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion, and Elmer S. Madsen VFW Post 6229, all of Peabody, sponsor the service.

Peabody-Burns Girl Scouts and Peabody Boy Scout Troop 108 will assist post members. “The Star Spangled Banner,” “Taps,” and a special music selection will be provided by members of Peabody-Burns High School band, under the direction of Laura Leitnaker.

Reverend Jim Pohlman will give the invocation, memorial address, and benediction. Members of the American Legion and VFW posts will fire the salute.

The Avenue of Flags at Prairie Lawn Cemetery will be lighted Monday night as well as every night of the holiday weekend.
