Maxine Barton

Services for Maxine Barton, 93, Lincolnville, who died Sunday at St Luke Living Center in Marion, will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick.

Born July 25, 1931, in Tiltonsville, Ohio, to Louis and Carlye Belle (Williamson) Hoffner, she attended grade school in New Albany and graduated from Fredonia High School.

In 1955, she married Eugene Spinder. From this union came two daughters. In 1970, she married Warren Barton.

She worked at Beech Aircraft and as a certified nursing assistant in Wichita until moving to Lincolnville to be closer to her mother. She then drove a special education bus for Centre schools for 11 years, retiring in 1995.

A member of Lincolnville United Methodist Church, Lincolnville Senior Citizens, and the board of Senior Citizens of Marion County Board, she was a grand marshal of Lincolnville’s Octoberfest parade.

Survivors include daughters Sharon Simons of Lincolnville and Cathy Perez of Wichita; brother James Hoffner of Durham; sisters Wanita Nardi of Gahanna, Ohio, and Bonita Boone of New Albany, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

Husband Warren Barton, and brothers Billy Wayne Hoffner, Bob Hoffner, and Richard Hoffner preceded her in death.

Memorials have been established with Centre schools and St. Luke Living Center.
