Competing against 13 other schools, Marion’s boys won their annual relays event Friday, and Marion’s girls placed second.

Peabody-Burns did not attend because of weather.

“There are definitely things we need to work on and continue to improve on technique- and stamina-wise,” coach Shaun Craft said, “but I was very pleased with the results of our first varsity meet of the year and the effort of the athletes.”

Caileigh Johnson won pole vault, Kate Wessel won long jump, and Jackson Howard won discus.

Marion’s boys relay team of Tripp Peterson, Jesse Snyder, Wyatt Soyez, and Landon Hendricks won the 4x100.

“The Thierolf / Wilson relays gave us an opportunity to see a lot of good competition and give a benchmark to build off of for the rest of the season,” Craft said.

The Warriors next meet will be Thursday at Chase County.

“We just have to keep working in practice to continue to get a little better each week,” Craft said.
