Larry Rose

Former Peabody farmer William L. “Larry” Rose, 88, of Council Grove, died Monday at Diversicare in Council Grove.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunny Slope Cemetery in Council Grove.

He was born April 28, 1928, to Jessie and Florence (Roach) Rose in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

He joined the United States Navy in 1945, and married Marietta Thomas on Oct. 15, 1950, in Wichita.

Larry was a longtime employee of Electrolux Corporation before retiring from Coleman.

In 2006, the Roses moved to Council Grove Lake.

Larry was a member of First Baptist Church and Peabody Kiwanis Club.

He was preceded in death by infant sons Larry David and Preston Michael, brother Jessie Rose, sister Edna Kramer, twin half-sisters Bertie Croft and Bertha Johns, and half-brother Jim Lyons.

He is survived by wife Marietta, of the home; children, Stephen Rose of Peabody, Larry Rose of Council Grove, and Kim Rose of Wichita, four grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
