Homestead sells for $320,000

The J.K. Williams homestead near Florence sold at auction Tuesday for $320,000.

Jeremy and Tammy Ensey bought the 25-acre property, which features a home, several limestone outbuildings, a barn, a stone fence, and other unique features.

In the Sept. 8, 1949, edition of the Marion Record-Review, local historian Mrs. T.B. Matlock wrote: “Who of the earlier day does not carry a mental picture of the J.K. Williams home, nestling among the trees near the roadside?”

Tammy Ensey said her family planned to use the property as its residence once renovations are complete.

About 75 people attended the auction, and there were nearly 40 verified bidders, including some people who bid online, said Barrett Simon of Sundgren Realty, which handled the sale. Sundgren was pleased for the seller and buyer, he said.
