Hattie Whitney

Hattie Janetta Whitney, 91, born October 19, 1925, to Claude and Hattie Smith in Harford, Pennsylvania, passed away July 4, 2017.

Hattie was a dedicated member of her church, including church ministry and mission trips with her husband. She played organ, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school.

She was a licensed practical nurse and retired as a pharmacy technician for a Veterans Administration hospital. She enjoyed knitting and crochet. Hattie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded by her husband of 47 years, Wendell H. Whitney; son, Ronnie Whitney; and parents.

She is survived by sons Mark Whitney and wife, Ginger, and Larry Whitney and wife, Cathy; daughters, Bonnie Carrell; Anita Young and husband, Eugene; and Bethel “Beth” Roach and husband, Randell; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Services were Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Resthaven Mortuary, Wichita.
