Hamm hired as county road and bridge director
Jesse Hamm, who has been interim road and bridge director since the beginning of December, will drop the word interim from his title after an announcement at Monday’s commission meeting.
Hamm was officially named road and bridge director, which chairman Randy Dallke said Hamm was happy about.
“After all the interviewing process with road and bridge, we offered the position to Jesse Hamm,” Dallke said. “He was very tickled to death to be road and bridge supervisor.”
In an interview Monday afternoon, Hamm said it felt “pretty good” to be taking on the permanent position.
“I was glad they gave me the opportunity and took a chance on me,” Hamm said. “I don’t want to let many people down.”
Hamm said some projects road and bridge will be working on over the summer include gravel road rebuild on 140th Rd. between Nighthawk and Indigo, and tackling 38 miles of chip seal starting in July.
With Hamm officially starting as director of road and bridge, and Emma Tajchman starting as planning and zoning director on May 24, Dallke said the county is on its way up.
“We will be rebuilding our work force here and trying to rebuild up to the level we were at,” Dallke said. “Like I said, I always feel we can take our level further and that could be in a lot of different ways.”
