George Kristek

George Edmund Kristek, 88, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017. He was born March 27, 1929, to Joseph and Mary (Havlik) Kristek in Marion County. George married Pauline Bogner in 1957. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together.

He was active and supportive of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Tampa, for over 20 years and was a 70-year member of the Knights of Columbus. George was a member of Lions Club and American Legion, having served in the Korean War. He also served as a volunteer for the Tampa ambulance service and as volunteer Tampa fire chief. He owned Geo’s market in Tampa and Kristek Liquor in Salina.

George is survived by his wife, Pauline; son, Raymond Kristek of Kansas City; daughters, Karen Glotzbach and husband, Joe, of Silver Lake, Shirley Mello and husband, John, of DeSoto, Rosie Mitchell of Manhattan, JoAnn Pelter and husband, Scott, of Topeka, and Anita Doubrava of Roland, Oklahoma; brother, Albert Kristek of Auburn, Washington; sister, Florence Bezdek of Liberty, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 11 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Salina. Burial followed at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tampa.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School, Salina, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Tampa, or Hospice of Salina, all in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St., Salina KS 67401.
