Gary Norman Cole, 75, of Marion died Monday at Newton Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 6, 1940, in Lawrence to Jess A. and Doris Farmer Cole. He attended Wichita schools.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1961, serving in the Vietnam War.

Gary worked at Beech Aircraft in Wichita for several years, then moved to California where he was a mechanic for a boat company.

He married Lois Roberta Rodgers on May 15, 1968, in San Diego. They moved to Arlington, Texas where he worked for a machine shop, then moved to Newton.

Lois died on Jan. 14, 2000. Gary moved to Marion where he lived until moving to the Peabody Care Center.

He was a life member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

He is survived by his daughter, Janita Otwell of Enid, Oklahoma; sister Sandra Salsbury of Hillsboro; and one grandson.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
