Florence Beardmore

Florence E. Beardmore, 90, of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Silver Spring, Maryland, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Her husband, Richard W. Beardmore; parents; two brothers; and sister preceded her in death.

She is survived by sons Bruce W. Beardmore and wife, Deb, of Ada, Michigan, and Richard Alan Beardmore of River Falls, Wisconsin; daughter Julie Ann Beardmore of Lincoln Park, Michigan; grandchildren Richard E., Andrew M., and Emily Margaret Beardmore of Windsor, Colorado; Chris Gilbert and wife, Tami, and Greg Gilbert and wife, Tanya; sister-in-law Lucille Cornelsen; six great-grandchildren; and also nieces and nephews.

Florence Emily Beardmore was born Jan. 12, 1927, in Peabody, Kansas. She attended schools in Peabody and business college in Wichita, Kansas. She married Richard Wayne Beardmore on Aug. 9, 1946. He worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which took them to Hawaii, California, Arizona, New York, and Washington, District of Columbia. Their residence was in Silver Spring, Maryland. Florence also worked 30 years for USDA after their children were grown. She was honored with a national award from the secretary of agriculture and a silver award for outstanding administrative assistant.

She loved music, gardening, cooking, and traveling and was an avid reader. She settled in Fort Collins after retirement to be near family.

A memorial service was Saturday, Jan. 6, at Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community, Grand Rapids. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Maryland.
