Farm disaster loans available

Farm Service Agency is accepting emergency disaster loan applications from county farmers who suffered crop or livestock losses due to inclement weather from May 24 to June 13, 2016.

Applicants for FSA emergency loans must be operating a family-size farm or ranch, must be unable to get credit elsewhere, and must have suffered a qualifying physical or production loss.

Farmers who suffered at least a 30 percent reduction to at least one cropping enterprise may have a qualifying production loss. Emergency disaster production loss loans cover 100 percent of qualifying losses.

Loans for physical losses may be used to replace installations, equipment, livestock, or buildings, including homes.

Applications for assistance will be accepted by FSA until April 8, 2017. Contact the FSA county office in Emporia or call (620) 343-2812 for additional information and how to apply.
