Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

JUNE 11

10:56 a.m. — An uninjured 67-year-old woman who fell at a home in the 200 block of E. 2nd St. in Peabody was helped up by Hillsboro ambulance attendants. She declined to be taken to a hospital.

2:46 p.m. — At a deputy’s request, a boy injured by glass after someone allegedly tried to break into a rental home in the 400 block of S. Freeborn St. in Marion was examined by Marion ambulance attendants. The boy declined to be taken to a hospital.

JUNE 12

12:25 a.m. — A driver involved in a rollover accident on US-56 west of Old Mill Rd. was checked by Marion ambulance attendants but declined to be taken to a hospital.

6:53 a.m. — An 82-year-old woman having trouble breathing at a home in the 900 block of N. Elm St. in Peabody was taken to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center, by Hillsboro ambulance. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 8:27 a.m.

8:11 a.m. — A fire alarm at Oasis special education school in Marion was determined by Marion firefighters to have been a false alarm.

10:16 a.m. — A man in his 60s with a history of cardiac problems had a seizure in a car parked outside Marion Senior Center and was taken to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, by Marion ambulance.

2:22 p.m. — A 39-year-old man with trouble breathing and numbness on his left side at an apartment in the 100 block of W. 2nd St. in Peabody declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

3:19 p.m. — An overheated and vomiting 30-year-old man brought down by coworkers from high inside a wind farm tower near 350th and Chisholm Trail Rds. was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Tampa ambulance. Hillsboro ambulance also responded.

9:43 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance attendants checked a driver after a car-deer accident on US-50 east of Old Mill Rd. She declined to be taken to a hospital. Peabody firefighters initially were called to help clear debris, but that call was canceled.

THURSDAY

10:47 a.m. — A diabetic man in his 50s who “zoned out” during a teleconference with coworkers from a home in the 1200 block of E. Denver St. in Marion declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.

2:40 p.m. — A fire alarm at Westview Manor in Peabody was determined by Peabody firefighters to have been a false alarm.

7:46 p.m. — Fire near an oil well in a wheat field near 220th and Alamo Rds. was put out by rain before Hillsboro and Lehigh firefighters arrived.

8:08 p.m. — Zero visibility on K-15 at 100th Rd. was determined by Goessel firefighters to be from blowing dust not smoke.

8:19 p.m. — What similarly was reported as smoke rolling across US-50 near Peabody Golf Course was determined by Peabody firefighters to be dust kicked up by 60 mph winds from a thunderstorm. Power lines were reported to be sparking in trees near Peabody Elementary School. Power also failed in portions of the community, trees and limbs were reported down throughout town, and several storm drains were blocked. Firefighters spent nearly two hours checking and clearing debris.

11:23 p.m. — Fire in an electrical transformer in the 300 block of N. Locust St. in Peabody was extinguished within 30 minutes by Peabody firefighters.

11:29 p.m. — A cardiac patient was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health. The ambulance returned to Marion at 1:51 a.m.

FRIDAY

2:18 a.m. — A 9-year-old boy having an asthma attack at a home in the 200 block of S. Madison St. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. An additional medic in a first-response vehicle also responded.

5:06 a.m. — An uninjured 84-year-old woman who fell out of a chair at a home in the 300 block of E. Main St. in Goessel was helped up by Hillsboro ambulance attendants and a Goessel first responder. She declined to be taken to a hospital.

7:35 a.m. — An 86-year-old man who fell and hit his head at a home in the 300 block of N. Ash St. in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance. However, after leaving his home the ambulance went to HCH “to assess the patient.”

8:57 a.m. — A 79-year-old man who fell at a home in the 600 block of N. Elm St. in Peabody declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. An additional medic in a first-response vehicle also responded.

12:35 p.m. — Gas leaking from a meter hit by a vehicle in the 400 block of N. Walnut St. in Peabody was shut off by Peabody firefighters pending arrival of an Atmos Energy crew.

3:50 p.m. — A 71-year-old woman suffering from possible heat exposure at Marion Reservoir’s Hillsboro Cove declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. An additional medic in a first-response vehicle also responded.

7:10 p.m. — A 30-year-old man suffering an allergic reaction or possibly an overdose at a residence in the 200 block of S. Jefferson St. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. An additional medic in a first-response vehicle also responded.

7:39 p.m. — An accident report automatically generated by a cell phone sent Marion firefighters and ambulance to Welch and Cedar Sts. in Marion but proved to be a false alarm.

SATURDAY

8:21 p.m. — A 78-year-old woman with sepsis at a home in the 400 block of N. Locust St. in Peabody was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 10:16 p.m.

SUNDAY

12:27 p.m. — A 76-year-old woman with angina at a home in the 300 block of Grandview St. in Florence was taken to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, by Marion ambulance. The ambulance returned to Marion at 3:43 p.m.

MONDAY

2:57 a.m. — A 45-year-old woman who nearly fainted and complained of stomach spasms at an apartment in the 100 block of E. 9th St. in Florence was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

9:32 a.m. — A 50-year-old woman, fainting and not fully awake in the backyard of a home in 300 block of N. Freeborn St. in Marion, was taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance. The ambulance returned to Marion at 12:12 p.m.

1:26 p.m. — Peabody firefighters spent less than half an hour battling a tractor and field fire southwest of what would be 60th and Limestone Rds. in Harvey County.

1:48 p.m. — A 59-year-old man with abdominal pain in the 300 block of S. Cedar St. in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

2:16 p.m. — Marion firefighters spent less than 10 minutes checking a natural gas leak in the 300 block of N. 2nd St. in Marion.

3:12 p.m. — Peabody firefighters were called back to their previous tractor and field fire to spend less than half an hour dealing with hot spots in a hedge row.

5:44 p.m. — The 59-year-old man with abdominal previously taken to St. Luke was transferred by Marion ambulance to NMC Health.
