These broadcasts regarding fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

JUly 4

9:28 a.m. — A patient who suffered a stroke was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke Hospital to Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

8:36 p.m. — While on standby at Peabody City Park, a Peabody ambulance attendant helped EMS director Ed Debesis move a spectator to an area for people with disabilities..

8:39 p.m. — Marion ambulance was paged to the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. in Marion for a man having a seizure who also had a hand injury from fireworks. Hillsboro ambulance ended up taking the call, arriving at 8:57 p.m. The man was transported to St. Luke.

11:18 p.m. — Florence firefighters were sent to a tree stump fire in the 200 W. 5th St.

july 5

12:24 a.m. — Marion police discovered a burning tote bag filled with fireworks at Billings and Main Sts. After trying to put it out with a fire extinguisher, police called Marion firefighters.

2:00 a.m. — Peabody ambulance took a patient from the 500 block of Norwood St. to Newton Medical Center. Patient information was not recorded by the newspaper’s system.

1:14 p.m. — An elderly male who was not feeling well was taken by Marion ambulance from the 1100 block of E. Denver St. to St. Luke.

4:22 p.m. — Marion ambulance took a patient home from St. Luke. No address was given.

thursday

9:59 a.m. — Goessel first responders helped a woman in her 80s who had fallen in the 200 block of Commercial St. then canceled a call for Hillsboro ambulance.

2:07 p.m. — A dispatcher paged Goessel first responders and Marion ambulance to stand by near an apartment in the 600 block of E. Main St. in Goessel for a possibly suicidal person. A minute later, the dispatcher redirected the call to Hillsboro ambulance. At 2:18 p.m. the dispatcher corrected the address from Main to Marion St. The ambulance was dismissed at 2:59 p.m.

2:50 p.m. — Lehigh and Hillsboro firefighters extinguished a hay fire at Diamond Rd. and Main St. in Lehigh. Marion ambulance was dispatched, too, but was replaced by Hillsboro ambulance after it was dismissed from Goessel.

5:52 p.m. — Lehigh firefighters notified dispatchers that the hay fire had rekindled and that they were sending a truck to extinguish it.

6:34 p.m. — Marion ambulance was sent to St. Luke to transfer a cardiac patient to Newton Medical Center, but was dismissed from the call at 7:04 p.m.

8:44 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transferred a patient from St. Luke to Newton Medical. A dispatcher indicated Marion ambulance was being saved for a later advanced-life-support transfer.

9:48 p.m. — Marion ambulance performed an advanced-life-support transfer from St. Luke to Via Christi – St. Francis.

friday

9:51 a.m. — Peabody fire and Hillsboro, Marion, and Peabody ambulances were dispatched to 100th Rd. between Limestone and Mustang Rds. for an accident, although the dispatcher said that the reporting party did not stay on the line to “advise how many vehicles, how many people, or an exact location.” At 9:58 a.m., a sheriff’s deputy reported that the “accident” could possibly be cattle out, and a Peabody officer reported finding no accident on Limestone Rd. Two officers initiated a search from 100th and Limestone Rds. One reported at 10 a.m. that they discovered cattle out. All ambulance calls were terminated.

11:38 a.m. — Marion firefighters and ambulance were sent to the 100 block of N. Cedar St. for a teenage male whose hand was possibly stuck in a basement door. The boy declined to be taken to a hospital.

4:13 p.m. — A woman who could not get up off a couch at Bown-Corby Apartments was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

5:45 p.m. — Ramona firefighters reported they were en route to check on a fire in the 600 block of D St. At 5:58 p.m. a firefighter reported that the fire was a controlled burn that had not been reported and that the involved parties would put it out.

5:48 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance responded to the 400 block of S. Adams St. for an unattended death of a woman in her 80s.

saturday

12:08 p.m. — A man in his 90s complaining of rectal pain was transported by Marion ambulance from Marion Assisted Living to St. Luke.

1:51 p.m. — A pontoon boat passenger in her 20s who was suffering a seizure was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital after Hillsboro ambulance met the boat at Hillsboro Cove.

3:17 p.m. — Peabody ambulance was dispatched to Indian Guide Terrace Apartments for a woman who was thought to be dead. At 3:29 p.m., a Peabody police officer requested a coroner.

10:23 p.m. — Lincolnville firefighters investigated multiple reports of a possible anhydrous ammonia leak at Cenex in Lincolnville. A firefighter reported seeing a cloud near the ground surrounding a mobile unit used in agriculture. Tampa ambulance was requested as a precaution. An emergency number on the tank was called. The leak was reported stopped at 10:51 p.m., and Tampa ambulance was dismissed.

sunday

10:50 a.m. — Goessel firefighters for what ended up being a false alarm at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.

6:25 p.m. —Peabody ambulance was recalled from a run to Burns after a first responder reported a medical alarm was accidental.

9:26 p.m. — An man who fell at a Salem Home apartment and reported hip pain was transported to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

10 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance stayed at HCH to transfer a patient to Via Christi – St. Francis.

monday

3:17 p.m. — A woman with chest pains was taken by Hillsboro ambulance from the 100 block of S. Birch St. to HCH.

6:30 p.m. — Peabody ambulance reported arriving at Newton Medical. No initial dispatch was recorded.

10:18 p.m. — A woman in the 300 block of S. Kennedy St. experiencing discomfort from a recent cesarean section was told to take medication. A call to Hillsboro ambulance was canceled.
