The number of people turning out to cast early votes at Marion County Courthouse has surprised county clerk Tina Spencer.

By Tuesday, the election was off to a spectacular start, Spencer said.

“As of 2:15 p.m. today, we have had 538 early in-person voters,” Spencer said. “We have also mailed out 469 ballots.”

Spencer said the courthouse will be open for voting until 7 p.m. Thursday and from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Advance voting ends at noon Monday. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Polling places for Tuesday’s election are Burns Community Center, Florence Masonic Center, Goessel Mennonite Church, Hillsboro United Methodist Church, Lincolnville Community Center, Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion, Peabody-Burns High School, and Tampa Senior Center.
