Duane Hamm

Duane Dean Hamm, 84, passed away Aug. 31, 2016, in Hillsboro, Kansas, with his loving family around him. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.

Duane was born to Edward and Bertha Hamm in Hillsboro. His school years were attending a one-room schoolhouse in Durham with his brothers and sisters.

On March 26, 1983, he married the love of his life, Shirley Tucker, and they enjoyed 33 years of blessings.

He retired after 37 years of driving milk routes for AMPI.

Duane was an avid fan of Kansas City Royals baseball, Kansas State football and basketball, and Kansas City Chiefs. It was during moments in these games that his quiet demeanor would erupt with a shout.

He loved his church and family so much, but above all, he loved his Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Charlene Thiessen and husband Greg of McPherson, Myron Hamm and wife Kim of Texhoma, Texas, and Cherie Goossen and husband Tim of Hillsboro; son-in-law Albert Christenson of Wichita; grandchildren, Dylan Thiessen, Whitney Thiessen, Austin Hamm, Justin Hamm, Madison Hamm, Chris Olivia, Ty Goossen and fiancé Michelle Keener, Sarah Christenson, and Andrew Christenson; brother, Marvin Hamm and wife Joyce of Wells, Kansas; sister, Florence Hett of Hillsboro; brothers-in-law Bob Gates and wife Dorothy, and Harold Gates and wife Iva; and family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eddie, Delbert, Ted, Harry, and Art Hamm; sisters, Elma Klein, Dorothy Foth, and Elsie Lawrence; stepson, Ronald Tucker; and stepdaughters Debbie Tucker and Janet Christenson.
