County handles routine business

Marion County commissioners moved through a light agenda Monday, approving routine items, making an appointment, and adopting proclamations with little discussion.
They approved reappointing Daryl Enos to the 8th District Judicial Nominating Commission.
Brad Gorsuch was approved for a first term on the county’s Board of Zoning Appeals after being nominated by Dave Crofoot. When nominations were made last week, Crofoot was absent.
A proclamation recognizing Marion County as part of the Purple Heart Trail was approved.
Commissioners also adopted a resolution declaring April 12 to 18 as National Public Safety Telecommunications Week in Marion County to recognize dispatchers.
During public comment, Myron Voth, who operates Upland Farms, said tabling discussion of wind farm development created uncertainty and raised concerns about unequal application of policy and property value impacts.
Tom Britain of rural Florence said he was concerned wind turbines could interfere with television reception and urged the county to ensure mitigation measures were enforced if problems arise.
Lake superintendent Isaac Hett told commissioners seasonal preparations were largely complete. This includes placing buoys, removing debris, and preparing campgrounds for increased spring and summer use.
Revisions to a proposed ambulance billing agreement clarified timing and liability language, counselor Brad Jantz said. He recommended approval subject to staff review.
