County delays wind farm, rental regs
Staff writer
Country commissioners delayed actions Tuesday on revision of regulations on wind farms.
Planning and zoning director Sharon Olmstead was directed to clarify concerns with county counselor Brad Jantz or consultant Russ Ewy.
Commissioner Clarke Dirks wanted answered as whether already approved rentals grandfathered in would have to abide by new regulations.
Dirks said he thought any new restrictions would apply.
At issue is whether the number of occupants at short-term rentals should be reduced.
Commissioners can accept the regulations, send them back or overrule with a two-thirds majority vote.
Commissioners asked for more time to review the recommendations.
In other news, commissioners approved up to $59,000 to purchase a used semi truck for the transfer station for an amount not to exceed $59,000.
The 2020 International freight truck has 145,123 miles, transfer station director Josh Housman said.
“It appears we are sticking with used at this point, commissioner Kent Becker said.
If the county ordered a new truck, it would take months to get it, Houser said, and the transfer station needs it now.
He asked for two used trucks that would have cost a combined $108,000.
Commissioners also talked about adopting a code of conduct for meetings.
“I think it’s a good idea to have one,” county counselor Brad Jantz said.
Commissioners also decided to give Families and Communities Together director Terry Bebermeyer $6,000 to combat underage drinking and substance abuse.
