Concrete being poured for floor of transfer station

Staff writer

Steady progress is being made on construction of a new county transfer station.

Last week concrete was poured on the lowest level of the east half of the building under construction.

Cement trucks dumped loads into the back of a truck which then pumped the wet concrete into a 100-foot boom with a spout at the end as workers directed the flow.

Cody Nelson, co-owner of Nelson-Fowles Construction, the general contractor for the job, said the area where concrete is being installed will be a drive-through for trucks to park while being loaded.

Nelson said after the east half of the building is completed, a temporary wall will be put up between it and the existing west half. Transfer station employees will then work inside the east half while the new west half is completed.
