Cladine Hartke

Services for Cladine Marie Hartke, 97, Herington, who passed away Tuesday April 23, 2024, at St. Luke Hospital in Marion, were 10 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Herington. She was laid to rest in Lincolnville Cemetery.

Her family gathered with friends 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday April 28, 2024, at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington.

Cladine’s life began Aug. 17, 1926, in Marion. Her parents were Clayton and Ethel E. (Waner) Richmond.

Cladine was a 1944 graduate of Marion High School. She was united in marriage to Francis “Doc” Hartke on July 31, 1946, in Herington.

Cladine was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Herington, where the family resided for many years.

She was known for her amazingly huge garden every year, and for her seamstress skills.

Cladine enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She enjoyed family camping trips, fishing, and spending time with her family whenever she could.

Her loving family includes her son-in-law, Tom Schlesener (and wife Rose) of Herington; granddaughters Elizabeth Pister-Schlesener (and husband Rodger) of Herington and Jennifer Scott (and husband Dr. Matthew) of Buena Vista, Colorado; great-grandchildren Connor Scott and Logan Scott; and brother Gerald Richmond of Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Cynthia Schlesener, brother Gordon Richmond, and sister Wilma Pigorsch.

Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Good Shepherd Hospice.
