Child care center gets a name

A new child care center planned for Florence will be named Flint Hills Child Care Center.

Bob Brookens of Marion submitted the winning name in a contest. Other suggested names included Wild Ponies and Rug Rats.

Brookens will receive a dinner for two at Brandin’ Iron restaurant in Florence.

Les Allison, president of the Flint Hills Child Care Coalition Inc., said in presenting Brookens’ award that he hoped the center would be open early this fall.

It will be licensed and serve up to 30 children at what he termed affordable rates.
