Centre, Marion golfers win

For the second week in a row, Centre’s Easton Glessner has won a golf tournament. Glessner topped all golfers Friday with a score of 80 at the Hillsboro invitational,
“The weather was miserable,” coach Kelly Whitley said. “misting rain, wind, and cold temps made it rough to play, and Easton had some tough holes.He didn’t do well the first three holes, but then he settled down and shot very well.”
Monday in Hutchinson, Glessner finished 15th with a score of 77. He will travel to Council Grove this coming Monday for his next tournament.
Marion
Noah Schmidt won Central Christian’s tournament Monday, and Marion finished second as a team. Teammate Jayden Stiver was 23rd, and Ryan Tharp was 32nd.
The Warriors’ next varsity tournament with be Monday at Council Grove.
Goessel
Golf coach Chad Lindeman, is trying to find a combination of players to represent Goessel in varsity competition.
Senior Levi Schrag placed third Friday at Hillsboro, where 35 golfers made their way around the course. Schrag scored an 83, several strokes better than a year ago.
Gage Valdois finished 29th, and Estela Flores got experience at the varsity level, finishing 34th. Monday, Schrag finished 17th at the Central Christian tournament.
Goessel’s next varsity tournament will be April 27 at Inman.
Hillsboro
The Trojans placed second as a team on Friday at their annual tournament.
Payton Miller finished ninth followed by Jake Sibayan, 10th; Karson Whiteley, 13th; Nathan Hill, 17th; Braxton Hiebert, 21st; and Reese Duerksen, 22nd.
“This team posted the best team score from a Hillsboro group in several years,” coach Scott O’Hare said. “We are hopeful that this will help build some confidence in this group going forward.”
Hillsboro’s varsity team will travel Monday to Sterling.
