Centre building project limps along

Centre superintendent Larry Geiss told board members Monday that engineers for a proposed building project are a month behind.

Centre is planning a west wing addition to include a preschool and a day care center.

Board member Eric Carlson requested a copy of the architect’s final drawings, which Geiss said he would provide.

The board approved a memorandum of understanding between Centre and Centre Teachers’ Association. It sets an eight-period instructional day, with a ninth, 24-minute period, at the end of the day for career and college exploration, grade checks, and communication with parents.

Board member Adriane Rich was appointed delegate to Kansas Association of School Boards’ convention Nov. 11 to 13 in Wichita.

Board member Thieen Antoszyk requested that the physical education director receive a regular room for an office. His desk not is in an equipment storage closet.

“I will figure something out,” Geiss said.

The board accepted out-of-district attendance for sixth-grader Adyson Wilson.

Purchase of 50 Chromebooks and an education upgrade for Kansas Online Learning Program was approved at a cost not to exceed $13,450.

Geiss is organizing a site council and advisory board to make recommendations requited to apply for a $289,000 federal COVID.
