Auction to help families in need

Holy Family Parish, which includes Marion, Florence, Pilsen, and Tampa, will have its 20th annual charity auction Saturday.
The auction started in the basement of St. John Nepomucene Church in Pilsen. Over the years, it has grown into an event to benefit people in need across Marion County.
The auction will feature handmade quilts, locally raised beef and pork including processing, baked goods, canned goods, gift certificates, jewelry, themed gift baskets, sports memorabilia, arts and crafts, and other donated items.
A taco bar will kick off the event at 6 p.m. at Pilsen Community Center, 2672 Sunflower Rd. A live auction will follow at 7. A silent auction will run concurrently.
Donations will be requested for dinner. Proceeds will go to the community center. Money raised from the s auctions will be distributed to residents in need and to charities throughout the county.
