Athlete honored for academics

Kristen Herzet of Marion last week became the first athlete in Bethel College history to be named an Academic All-District athlete by College Sports Information Directors of America.

A two-year member of Bethel’s track and field team, Herzet is the school’s record holder in indoor shot put, hammer throw, and weight throw.

Herzet earned a podium finish five times at Kansas Collegiate Atheltic Conference indoor and outdoor championships and was named KCAC athlete of the week four times.

A three-time KCAC scholar athlete, she graduated from Bethel’s nursing program in May.
