After many months, even years of planning, Marion Community Hospital is about to become a reality. According to plans as they stand now, actual beginning could be within the next two to three months.

One of the beauty spots in Marion this spring is the rose-covered porch of Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Oblander, 129 South Freeborn. Large vines on the east are American Beauty roses, laden with hundreds of deep pink blooms. On the north are deep red Paul Scarlet roses, the whole being set off with evergreen foundation plantings.

Maurice Hollar and Charles Muse will go to Wichita Sunday for the week of Sunflower Boys’ State sponsored by the American Legion and held at Wichita North High School.

Announced in this issue are the weddings of Barbara Ball and Moody Murry, May 21; Shirley Collett and David Bowers, May 31; Margie Plenert and Willard L. Haury, June 2; Arlene Weber and Harold Schroeder, June 4; and Ruth Jo Willming and Ira Penner, June 4.

At least 16 fast baseball clubs from over a several-county area will head into Marion June 15 for a district tournament under the sanction of the National Semi-pro Baseball Congress.
